The evaporation model of the free-fall motion of a single droplet is verified by using the experimental data in the existing literature. The discrete phase model (DPM) is added to the evaporation model to simulate the indoor transmission characteristics and distribution of droplets ejected by human cough with time. The simulation results are in good agreement with the existing experimental results under different relative humidities. In the case of high relative humidity, the droplet evaporates slowly, which is beneficial to the gravity settlement of the droplet, resulting in a lower content of the virus droplet floating in the air, which helps to prevent the virus transmission.
